The Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship For PhD Research In Financial Econometrics [Funded]

Overview: 

This project intends to contribute to our understanding of financial market risks using intraday high-frequency financial data and advanced financial econometric tools, thereby enable better risk management and improve our ability to maintain the stability of the financial system.

The Scholarship enables you to undertake extensive, independent research that forms a distinct contribution to the knowledge of Financial Econometrics. Your work should afford evidence of coherence and originality shown by the discovery of new facts.

Scholarship Benefits:

The scholarship is comprised of the Tuition Fee Offset and a Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) Living Allowance/Stipend.

The stipend component of the scholarship is currently valued at AUD $28,092 per annum (2020 rate, tax-exempt).

Scholarship Eligibility: 

• This scholarship is available to eligible domestic or international candidates to undertake a Ph.D. (3-year) program.
• Applicants should have a background in econometrics and a strong interest in the financial market.
• Applications will be reviewed as they are received and an offer of scholarship will be made as soon as a suitable candidate has been selected.
• The Ph.D. student will be supervised by Professor Shuping Shi from the Department of Economics at Macquarie Business School.

Application Process: 

• Go to the online application form to register as an applicant.
• International applicants who intend to apply for a student visa should register as 'Temporary Entry Permit' under the Nationality field on the registration page.
• Domestic applicants (Australian, New Zealand or Permanent Residents) who are wishing to apply for the 2 year Master of Research program, will need to select the Bachelor of Philosophy (BPhil) program.
• Fill out the online application form and upload the required documents (see the next section for the supporting application documents you will require). Note you will only be able to submit the application if all mandatory fields and the required supporting documentation has been attached.
