Overview:
The Discovery Prize is an opportunity each year to showcase new musical talents from the African continent.
Since 1981, the RFI Discovery Prize has highlighted new musical talents from the African continent. Over the years, this Prize has contributed to the launch of many artists who have since won over an international audience: Smarty (Burkina Faso) Marema Fall (Senegal) Elida Almeida (Cape Verde), Soul Bang’s (Guinea), M'Bouillé Koité (Mali), Yvan Buravan (Rwanda)… Congolese singer Celine Banza won the 2019 edition of the RFI Discovery Awards.
Its Jury, made up of professionals, is chaired each year by a personality. From Jacob Desvarieux to Youssou N'Dour, Angélique Kidjo, Passi, Richard Bona, Asalfo, and Fally Ipupa, the presidents of the Prix Découvertes RFI bring their support and their experience to its influence.
The winner receives 10,000 euros, a tour in Africa and a concert in Paris.
RFI and their partners are actors committed to the winner and offer him professional support, promotion on their channels, their websites.
The RFI Discovery Prize is organized in partnership with Sacem, The French Institute, the International Organization of La Francophonie and UNESCO
